Here's a great blog post by Kevin at fanblogs about the day he had a heart attack and almost died. I found it again this weekend after the Tim Russert news. I had been loosely trying to lose some weight with a semi-low carb diet and sporadic exercise, but it may be time to get a lot more serious. Reading some of 5Team's posts this weekend are also motivating.

This guy Kevin is 34--that's what is so scary.

Being a good father, good husband, good provider, etc. etc. Is a tough balancing act. (Hard to find time to get out of the house to watch a sporting event with some people).

It can be hard to find time to get some exercise or it can be easy to to eat some crappy/fast food in a hurry to get a fix when tired. I try to always bring some water where ever I go and it replaces some of the need for that. Will also incorporate some healthier foods like some fruits and veggies when it's non-mael time.

Ultimately losing some weight for me has helped (in the past) with my wifes happiness with me, my energy level at work and life in general, and my happiness with myself.

I WAS SNORING LIKE A BEAR last year and the wife couldn't take it (light sleeper), losing some weight helped.
